David is a qualified coach and a mentor with Mentore, a consultancy firm which provides business mentoring to women to enhance their performance and careers and assist their transition to senior management roles. He is also a member of the External Affairs Advisory Board of the Charity, Concern Universal. David provides executive coaching and advisory and consultancy services. David was Co-CEO and, prior to that, Managing Partner of Hogan Lovells, a leading global law firm, for nearly 10 years. He retired from Hogan Lovells in summer 2014, having been with the firm for 32 years, 28 years as a partner. David led the firm through a significant period of change and international expansion, including devising and implementing the strategy for the largest transatlantic merger undertaken in the legal sector. He also drove significant improvements in business performance, transformed the approach to business development and client relationship management and enhanced the profile and standing of the firm in the market. Following the merger which created Hogan Lovells, David was awarded Management Partner of the Year Award by Legal Business and Partner of the Year Award by The Lawyer. Earlier in his career and prior to assuming a full time management role, David was a capital markets practitioner specialising in structured finance and securitisation. David has had a longstanding involvement in diversity issues and has been actively engaged in promoting and implementing a wide range of diversity initiatives. He has also been closely involved in mentoring both lawyers and business services professionals at key points in their careers and is experienced in addressing diversity issues in his mentoring and coaching work.
