Gilles Bénéplanc has spent his whole career in the insurance and employee benefits business. He started with AXA, where he had numerous roles, primarily in the field of corporate and international risks.

He joined Mercer in 2000 and in 2003 became Chief Operating Officer of Mercer France, then President in 2006. In 2008 he became leader of the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Region and in September 2012, he was promoted to Global President for Pensions.

He became Gras Savoye's France General Manager in March 2013, in charge of life and non-life branches, carrier relations and the French regions. Since January 2016, Gilles Bénéplanc is Head of France, Willis Towers Watson, and since July 2016, CEO of Gras Savoye.

Gilles, aged 58 is a graduate of École des Mines de Paris and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Toulouse. He is a Member of the French Institute of Actuaries and a professor at the University of Paris Dauphine.

He is also a contributor to the economic publication RISQUES and has recently published ‘Risk Management in Turbulent Times’, co-written with Professor Jean-Charles Rochet.
