Jens, a Swedish economist, worked his whole career in reinsurance. In 1973, he was hired out of Lund University by the Norwegian Storebrand Insurance Group and worked in Oslo for 3 years and was then sent to Panama to start a subsidiary to serve the Latin American and Caribbean markets. In 1981 he went to Toronto to start a Canadian Branch Office and during 1984-1985, he doubled as CFO for Christiania General, Storebrand's US operation. He settled in Bermuda in 1986 to head up GTE Re. In 1988, he started Scandinavian Re, an innovative finite risk reinsurer, which he ran until his retirement in 2002. He has served on numerous charitable and for-profit Boards (BHS, Goshawk, Canopius, Lancashire, Catalina) and has been the Swedish honorary consul since 1999. He is an ARIAS-US certified arbitrator and has served on close to 40 arbitration panels. He has served on the Human Rights Commission since 2013.
